This series presents shots taken over a two minute period in Amsterdam on 9 March 2022. The weather was gorgeous and the first blush of spring was in the air.I was wandering about Amsterdam's museumplein with the late-afternoon sun shining brightly on the Rijksmuseum. The museumplein was teeming with life. Everyone was just relaxing and doing their own thing. In the midst of all this, I spotted a father teaching his daughter how to play basketball, and I could feel that there was hope in the world.
After two years of COVID lockdowns, mask wearing and social distancing, this was one of the first afternoons in Amsterdam in which people could simply relax in the sunshine, sit and gather where they liked. Moreover, no one paid a bit of attention to me, and I could freely shoot street photos, much as I had prior to the last two years of COVID restrictions.
