Markets play a strong social and emotional role. People gather in markets to do their shopping; to have a quick bite to eat; to drink a cup of coffee; and to have a chat with their friends and neighbors. Markets are vibrant and alive---crowds move from stall to stall; sellers call out their bargains; orders are given; and money and goods change hands. This series presents scenes from open air markets in Africa, Asia and Europe. While each market is different in its own way, all convey that sense of wonder and excitement that market-day brings.
