In this series, the paintings of the artist Jean Dubuffet were projected, using a mini-beamer, onto a French model, Manya. Manya was asked to let her hair down and to go wild for the camera. The Patti Smith album, Easter, was put on as background music, and Manya posed to the beat of this iconic punk-poet.
In terms of his artwork, Dubuffeteschewed traditional standards of beauty in favor of what he believed to be a more authentic and humanistic approach to image-making. He coined the term art brut (meaning "raw art", or 'outsider art') for art produced by non-professionals working outside aesthetic norms, such as art by psychiatric patients, prisoners, and children. He also felt that the simple life of the everyday human being contained far more art and poetry than did academic art, or great painting.
