People do derive pleasure from things that they know are bad for them. What we consider to be an appropriate source of pleasure is shaped by our upbringing, religion, belief systems, experiences and so much more.
Some things which bring us pleasure are considered "forbidden". A forbidden pleasure is an indulgence that is deemed immoral or even illegal. This collection presents a wide array of forbidden pleasures.
The series starts off with the theme of gluttony, which is represented by a images of sinfully delicious deserts. The next theme is prostitution, with images with images taken in the red light district of Amsterdam. The third theme is the commercial exploitation of women as sex objects, using images drawn from early blue movies. The fourth theme is forbidden dreams while the fifth theme examines the links between leisure and indolence. The sixth and final section of this series explores religious rapture.
