What is there about a juggler that invariably captures one's attention, and leaves you with a sense of sheer, unadulterated awe. I suppose it's the fact that what the juggler is doing takes immense skill and talent. There's also the element of danger that adds to the suspense. And then there is the sense that one could never, in a thousand years, imagine themselves doing this, but that it is just fantastic that someone else throws flames and knives high into the air.
The attraction could also have to do with familiarity. In one sense, we are all jugglers. Most people juggle family, career and self-care responsibilities. Lots of people must find their balance amongst a wave of emails, tweets, phone calls, news and those who want a piece of their time. This everyday juggling act is no less skillful or demanding than the juggler in the street, though it is far less flamboyant. And fortunately, the routine juggling act that most go through doesn't finish in a breath-load of searing flames.
