Orchids teach us that passion requires great patience. They are the solitary extroverts of the flower world. Standing tall in the tropical sunlight, they share wild tales of mystery, romance and excitement. Bathed in the monsoon rains, they shed tears of sorrow and compassion.
Sri Lanka has some 185 identified species of orchids, including some of the most diverse species in the world. The images included in this collection were taken from the Orchid House of the Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya and from the Waters Edge Orchid Garden in Colombo.
