These are images of two models who posed for studio photographs in the fall of 2019. The first set are of Vienne Marly-Passchier, shot at a workshop conducted in Paul Meuleman's Studio in Delft, and the second set are of Mischkah Scott taken during a project undertaken in honor of the surrealist photographer Man Ray. Both models are highly experienced, and both struck most of their own poses with minor direction from my side.
Posing a photographic model is much like constructing a theater piece, with the drama unfolding one pose at a time. The real art of posing is to be able to convey a coded message through the model's expression, the angle of her body, her dress, the lighting and the atmosphere that the image conveys.
