A person's favorite songs say a lot about who they are. When I was constructing my top fifty songs list, I started off with songs that I thought were musically exceptional. I then moved onto songs that were especially memorable to me at different points in my life. After that, I thought about people who were very important to me, and the songs that reminded me of them.
Ultimately, no song is inherently better than any other. A song's emotional triggers, the memories it unearths, and its' transcendental power fills the music with a deeper meaning.
