The song "She Came In Throughthe Bathroom Window" was written by Paul McCartney and was recorded by the Beatles and released on their 1969 album Abbey Road. McCartney said the song was inspired by one of the fans who hung around outside his St John's Wood home, and who broke in and stole some of his clothes and a number of his photographs. Thanks to the help of another fan, the photographs were eventually recovered and returned. The idea of someone breaking in through the bathroom window always brings a smile to my face, since our bathroom is three stories above ground, and even the tallest ladders would be challenged to reach it.
For this series, I've asked a model, Tryst, to pretend to come in through our bathroom window, and then to prance and dance around the room, as I imagine the joyous fan must have done when she broke into Paul McCartney's house nearly fifty years ago. While the Beatles sang this song in a half-serious manner, my favorite version of it is the Joe Cocker cover version, who transforms it into a bluesy ballad backed by a full brass band.
